This Privacy Policy describes how Orame ("we", "us") handles your information when you use cotalk, our app for recording podcast-style conversations with AI co-hosts.
Information We Collect
Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address, display name, and optional avatar image.
Microphone audio. cotalk is a recording app. When you grant microphone permission and actively record in a room, we capture your voice audio. Recording only happens while a session is active and is always visibly indicated in the app — we never record in the background.
Transcripts. Your recorded speech is transcribed to text by a speech-to-text provider so that AI co-hosts can understand and respond to the conversation.
Conversation and episode data. We store the messages, per-message audio segments, AI-generated replies and voices, and the episodes you compose from them, so you can play them back, edit, and share them.
Device and diagnostic data. We collect basic diagnostic information (such as app version, device model, and crash logs) to keep the app reliable. We do not collect your precise location, contacts, or photos.
How We Use Your Information
- Record, transcribe, and play back your podcast sessions.
- Generate AI co-host replies (text and synthesized voice).
- Compose and export episodes from your saved audio segments.
- Maintain the security of your account and our service.
- Diagnose crashes and improve performance.
We do not sell your personal information, we do not use your voice recordings to build voice profiles of you, and we do not show third-party advertising.
Third-Party Service Providers
We share data with the following processors only to the extent needed to operate the app:

Audio and transcripts sent to these providers are used solely to provide the features above and are subject to those providers' data processing agreements.
Sharing and Publishing
Your sessions are private by default. Audio leaves our service only when you export or share an episode. You are in control of where exported episodes are published.
Data Retention and Deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual sessions and episodes in the app, or delete your account entirely, which permanently removes your account information, recordings, transcripts, and episodes — see Account Deletion for details. Residual copies in encrypted backups are purged within 30 days.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to production data is restricted to the minimum necessary personnel.
Your Rights
Depending on your region (e.g. GDPR, CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at finn.guo@icloud.com.
Children
cotalk is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app, and the "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
